Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi say travel restrictions to Indonesia does not apply to official visits by officials at the ministerial level of Foreign. Visits by foreign officials are still allowed under strict health protocol conditions.

“The temporary closure of overseas travel to Indonesia is exempt from official visits by ministerial level officials and higher through the implementation of strict health protocols,” Retno said at a press conference on YouTube’s Presidential Secretariat on Monday ( 12/28).

The closure of the visit of foreigners to Indonesia will only be implemented on January 1, 2021. Meanwhile, foreigners who will arrive in Indonesia from December 28 to 31 are still accepted with various conditions.

These requirements have been stipulated in the appendix to Circular Letter number 3 of the 2020 Covid-19 Working Group on the Travel Health Protocol for people during the Christmas holidays and the welcome to the New Year 2021.

The first requirement, foreigners must show negative evidence of Covid-19 with a PCR test that is valid for 2×24 hours before departure. A negative Covid-19 certificate must be included in the document during the medical examination at the airport.

Then, even though they have a free Covid-19 letter, when they arrive in Indonesia, foreigners must re-examine the RT PCR and self-quarantine for five days at the location provided by the government.

After quarantine, the foreigner must undergo another RT PCR test, if the result is negative, he is allowed to continue his trip in Indonesia.

“This rule also applies to Indonesian citizens abroad who will return to Indonesia,” Retno said.

The government officially closed international arrivals to Indonesia, following news of a new variant of the corona virus strain that had spread in Britain. All international flights scheduled to Indonesia from January 1-14, 2021 will be closed.

Previously, the government had only banned international flights from Great Britain, a country known for having reported the discovery of a new type of coronavirus.
