JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – National Police Special Detachment 88 (Denso 88) dismantles the gym or training center of the terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) in a two-story villa in Semarang, Central Java.

The head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Headquarters, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, said that several trainers had been trained at the training center to train skilled members in self-defense using swords, samurai, ambushes and bomb assemblies.
“This location is a training ground for the younger generation of JI. They are trained in military style with the aim of forming a team according to the program created by the leader of this network (JI),” Argo said in a statement. written, on Saturday (12/26/2020).
One of his coaches is Joko Priyono aka Karso. He was appointed as coach by JI’s emir or leader, Parawijayanto.
Karso was arrested in 2019 and has been sentenced to 3.8 years in prison.

Argo said that a number of young people who were trained by the JI group were classified as smart. They are recruited from various Islamic boarding schools.
The network is aimed at bright young men who rank 1-10 in their respective Islamic boarding schools to become future leaders of JI.
“Each batch of 10 to 15 people from Java and from outside Java. A total of 95 people who have been trained and trained,” Argo said.
Argo explained that so far a total of seven groups of 96 members have been trained in various gyms spread over various regions of Central Java.

Once the training was completed, these young men were sent to Syria to study military training and assemble firearms and bombs.
“They are preparing this young generation with the aim of becoming the future leader of this network (JI),” explained Argo.
From 2013 to 2018, the recruitment and training process for many JI members was sent to Syria with funds prepared by the network.
