KOMPAS.com – The atmosphere of the Brebes Regional Hospital suddenly tensed when a group of screaming residents arrived in the hospital courtyard on Saturday (12/26/2020).
They continued to pressure despite officers trying to stop the crowd.
Residents are desperate to break down glass doors to forcibly collect the bodies of Covid-19 patients.

The incident began when a patient with the initials DW (33) came home after giving birth at another hospital.
Three days later, DW experienced shortness of breath and was treated at Brebes Hospital.
“Previously, there were gastric complications. After giving birth, he returned home 3 days later and was taken to the hospital. There he was diagnosed with covid,” said Sumarlin, husband of DW.
The night before he died, DW was allowed to go home, but he suddenly came back with symptoms of shortness of breath.
“I wanted to go home last night and I was allowed. After 1:00 WIB I had a hard time knowing what medicine was being administered, I was out of breath. My regret is that residents took it by force,” Sumarlin said.

Break the hospital glass, take the body home by public transport
The residents then went to the hospital to take the body by force.
They even dared to break the glass door to enter the hospital.
After obtaining DW’s body, residents brought him home wearing an angkot.
However, the hospital and the police took him away for burial according to the Covid-19 procedure.
The police then secured dozens of residents to guide them.
These residents must also undergo a rapid test.

Director of the Brebes Hospital, dr. Oo Suprana emphasized that DW was indeed a Covid-19 patient.
“It has tested positive (Covid-19). The results of the swab came out. However, the family requested a public funeral, not with the Covid-19 program,” Oo told reporters on Saturday.
Kapolres Brebes AKBP Gatot Yulianto regretted that there were residents who took the body of Covid-19 by force.
“The family rejected the funeral with the Covid-19 prokes. However, we have transmitted it to the family. Giving understanding so that in the end it is buried according to the process,” Gatot told the press.
He called for residents to understand the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic that must be overcome.
“If you are exposed to Covid-19, you are expected to understand and obey the health program. Because public safety is the highest law, it is more important than everything. Therefore, you must obey and be disciplined with the protocols. health, “he said.
