Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Member of the ISP DPRD DKI Jakarta faction William Aditya Sarana He denied having asked for an increase in aid funds to political parties (banpol) by 2021.

From the beginning, the faction and its party rejected the budget increase for those who were not essential during the Corona Virus (Covid-19) pandemic.

“PSI’s position is unanimous in rejecting the nonessential budget increase,” William said in his written statement to CNNIndonesia.com, Saturday (12/26).

Previously, a video recording of William’s voice had circulated on social media calling for an increase in banpol funds in 2021. In the recording, William proposed that banpol funds be increased to Rp20 thousand per vote.

The video was widely discussed because PSI previously rejected DKI DPRD’s Annual Activity Plan (RKT).

Regarding the video recording, William stated that the recording was not complete. He also accused the power parties of the old political parties who wanted to prevent PSI from expressing budget transparency in Jakarta.

“It is strongly suspected that this was done by old political forces who wanted to prevent the PSI from expressing budget transparency in Jakarta, as well as a budget stance that sided with the people, after the PSI rejected RKT’s increase of hundreds. billions, “he said.

William said the ballot did not reflect the content of the meeting. The tape is dismembered and it is not a complete discussion.

He encouraged that all meetings at the DPRD be recorded and open to the public so that the public is aware of the process and content of all budget discussions. Indeed, William regretted that until now, the DKI Jakarta provincial government has not disclosed the final budget details that had been finalized three weeks ago.

“I ask that all the recordings of our encounters be fully open from beginning to end, not fragments of sentences without context and substance,” he explained.

He explained that the context of the sentence passed on regarding the increase in banpol funds was in response to policy recommendations from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Indonesian Science Institute (LIPI).

According to him, the KPK and the LIPI stated that government funding was needed for political parties to strengthen democracy and crack down on corruption of public officials of political parties.

“The context is that I have studied and presented recommendations from the KPK and LIPI that political parties must have strong finances to operate,” said William.

“Thus the potential for political corruption can be suppressed. This is the spirit. Good spirit for the healthy quality of our democracy,” he added.

However, according to William, his party realizes that currently Jakarta is still in a state of pandemic and economic difficulties. Therefore, the discussion about increasing the funding of political parties by the government (“public funding”) is irrelevant.

William stated that, in principle, the ISP’s final position regarding the APBD was read formally and in writing at the Faction Overview at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Plenary Session on November 27, 2020. In this overview, PSI did not encourage an increase in funding from banpol.

“In fact, we emphasize cutting irrelevant activities, such as the hundreds of billions of RKT increases that had been proposed Clear the attitude of our Party and faction ”, he concluded.
