What is the only hope in the world that depends on the Chinese vaccine?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The fact that several countries have started to stop the production of the Covid-19 vaccine will likely make a vaccine from China the only solution for countries that have not received a vaccine to deal with the pandemic.

The question is, is this vaccine successful?

Quoting CNBC International, Saturday (12/26/2020), there is no reason not to believe the current situation. China itself has a history of vaccine scandals in the country.

Vaccine manufacturers have even revealed little about their latest human trials and the more than 1 million emergency-use inoculations that have been carried out on Chinese citizens.

Developed countries have already booked around 9 billion of the 12 billion injections developed mostly by Western countries that are expected to occur next year.

As for COVAX, an attempt to ensure equitable access to the Covid-19 vaccine has failed to deliver on its promised capacity of 2 billion doses. For countries that have not received a vaccine, China could be a solution.

China currently has six candidate vaccines that have entered the final testing phase. China is also one of the few countries that can produce vaccines on a large scale.

Government officials have announced that they could store 1 billion doses of Covid-19 capacity, which President Xi Jinping promised to benefit the global community.

The potential use of the vaccine by millions of people in other countries provides China with an opportunity to repair its damaged reputation after the Covid-19 outbreak in Wuhan was first discovered.

However, past scandals have damaged the confidence of its own citizens in the vaccine made in the country of the Bamboo Curtain.

“There is still a question mark on how China can ensure the reliable delivery of vaccines,” said Joy Zhang, a professor who teaches scientific ethics at the University of Kent.

Last week, Bahrain became the second country to approve a Covid-19 vaccine from China, joining the United Arab Emirates. Meanwhile, Morocco plans to use the Chinese vaccine in a mass immunization campaign scheduled for this month.

China’s vaccine is also pending approval in Turkey, Indonesia, and Brazil. While trials of the vaccine are still continuing in more than a dozen countries, including Russia, Egypt and Mexico.

In some countries, the Chinese vaccine is suspected. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has repeatedly cast doubt on the efficacy of the Sinovac candidate vaccine, citing no evidence and saying that Brazilians will not be used as guinea pigs.
