Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Covid-19 Management Working Group Expert Team revealed that long vacations turned out to be one of the reasons for the continued increase in Covid-19 cases in Indonesia. Several times this festive moment in 2020 shows this evidence.
In addition to the long vacations, the Covid-19 Management Working Group Expert Team also mentioned other causes of the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases, namely the growing number of areas not complying with protocols. health and the growing number of tests.
Based on the report of the Covid-19 Working Group, there were several periods that experienced an increase in cases accompanied by all three causes. For example, in the period from March to July, there were active cases from 1,107 to 37,342 cases, at that time the weekly tests increased by 50%, but there was also a long Eid holiday from May 22 to May 25, 2020.
Then, in August-October from 39,354 cases to 66,578 cases. This period of time was followed by an increase in the number of tests (tests) weekly to 40% and the number of regions that do not comply with health protocols has increased from 28.57% to 37.12%, and the holidays from 17.20 to 23 August 2020.
Finally, the increase occurred in the period from November to December from 54,804 cases to 103,239 cases. At that time, the tests were only 30%, but on the other hand there was an increase of 48.01% in areas that did not comply with health protocols, as well as long vacations from October 28 to November 1, 2020 .
The president of the Expert Team of the Covid-19 Management Working Group, Wiku Adisasmito, recalled that the rate of increase in active cases is increasingly rapid. With these data, according to him, it can be concluded that any increase in active cases is always accompanied by an increase in areas that do not comply with health protocols, and always start from a long vacation.
“Although tests weekly increase, but this was not accompanied by a decrease in active cases. The current condition is that the transmission rate is still high, so there are still many new cases found in each examination, “he said, in an official statement from the Covid-19 Task Force, on Friday (12/25/2020) .
Wiku also asked the public to find out about this incident. He called on all parties to continue to implement the 3M health protocol, that is, wear masks, wash hands and keep your distance.
Strict health protocols must be implemented everywhere, even during the Christmas and New Years holidays.
“Let’s be a community group that plays a role in saving ourselves and our loved ones by choosing not to travel and avoiding crowds,” Wiku said.
