Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin asked his staff to review the appearance of Covid-19 mutations, which are beginning to be discussed by several countries.
This was transmitted in a virtual press conference in the middle of a visit to RSHM with the Deputy Minister of Health, Dante Saksono Harbuwono, on Friday (12/25/2020).
“We have heard the news. What we do is ask the experts from the Ministry of Health to study Pressure [baru ini] because the study should be done scientific,” he said.
He reminded the public not to be too quick to reject or accept the news. “Because it is a very technical biological nature, I have asked my friends to immediately consult a medical biologist so I can find out what really happened,” he continued.
On the same occasion, the Vice Minister of Health said that positive communication is more important than raising the issue of this mutation, because positive communication does not accuse people but makes people care better.
“In fact, we are studying and we will form a team to study this,” he said.
As previously reported, British Health Minister Matt Hancock reported a new variant of Covid-19 this week. Transmission occurs faster than usual and is suspected to be the cause of the rapid increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the UK.
The same was also expressed by the Malaysian government about the discovery of a new variant of Covid-19 from samples taken in Sabah.
This was stated by the Director General of the Malaysian Ministry of Health, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, on Wednesday (12/23/2020). He said it was still unknown whether the strain, designated A701B, was more contagious.
