JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The joint team of Bareskrim Polri and Polda Metro Jaya arrested 11 suspects from a Middle East network drug syndicate.
The suspects were arrested in Petamburan, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/22/2020) evening.
The police seized evidence in the form of 196 crystal packets of methamphetamine weighing about 201 kilograms.

The methamphetamine is alleged to be distributed before the 2021 New Year celebrations in and around Jakarta to fund terrorist networks.
The following are the facts of the Middle East drug syndicate network disclosure:
Chronology
Metro Jaya’s Deputy Chief of Police Brigadier General Pol Hendro Pandowo explained that the Nakoba union’s disclosure began with information received by its staff about the distribution of methamphetamine at the site.
The police investigating this information managed to arrest the drug union of the international network.
“From Ayla’s car we were able to seize 196 packages of methamphetamine-type drugs, approximately 201 kilograms of crystalline methamphetamine,” Hendro was quoted as saying by Kompas TV on Tuesday.

Hendro said that several of the seized methamphetamine members were worth Rs 156 billion.
As for circulation, Hendro said, investigators are still investigating the suspects.
“With 201 kilograms of methamphetamine, we can save 1 million human lives. The value if we divide it, 156 billion rupees,” he said.
Until now, the suspects are still being investigated to develop the drug trafficking case.
There is code 555
Police also found the code on the packaging of the 196 crystal packets of methamphetamine that were stored in the car.
The head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol, Yusri Yunus, said the number “555” was written on the package, which is believed to have a separate meaning, indicating that the drugs are an international network.
“The 555 code is indeed an element of the international network, of the Middle East,” said Yusri Yunus.
Yusri said the code was similar to the shabu package that was confiscated from the arrest of three drug couriers in the Pagedangan area, Tangerang, on January 30, 2020.

“Judging by the code, we still remember that last January we managed to secure the Serpong area and we shot the culprit at that time,” he said.
Suspected of financing terrorist acts
Police are investigating the suspects. The interim results are known to be the result of the distribution of cannabis to fund the terrorist network.
“In fact, the profiling results and there are indications that these illegal assets were used to finance terrorism in the Middle East,” Yusri said.

Yusri stressed that investigators are still studying the statements of the 11 suspects to find out their ties to the terrorist network in Indonesia.
“This is a temporary suspicion. We are continuing to explore whether there is a connection to terrorism in Indonesia at this time,” Yusri said.
New year preparation
Meanwhile, Polda Metro Jaya Director of Narcotics Research Kombes Mukti Juharsa said that the distribution of a quantity of methamphetamine was prepared ahead of New Year’s celebrations in and around Jakarta.
“(Circulated) in Jakarta and surrounding areas. Maybe for the new year too, but that’s a lot, a million people,” Mukti told reporters.
Mukti said the perpetrator carried the shabu using the sea route to enter Jakarta.
Currently, Mukti said, his staff are still examining various suspects and developing arrests of other target actors.

“From the sea (route). We are still under development, there are still bigger operational targets,” he said.
Mukti claimed that the arrest of the suspects in the Petamburan area of central Jakarta was not related to the Front Pembela Islam (FPI).
The FPI is known to be based near the place of arrest of the Middle East network drug syndicate.
“Nothing. What’s the relationship between us? The transaction is there, maybe it’s safer there. You also don’t know why the suspect wants to be there,” Mukti said.
