Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Legal Team of the Islamic Defenders FrontREIT) Achmad Michdan said police overestimated the Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab as a suspect related to the case of crowds in Megamendung, Bogor Regency, West Java.

“I think it is too much, yes. Excessive,” Michdan told CNNIndonesia.com, Wednesday (23/12).

Michdan claimed that the masses who attended the occasion had strictly adhered to health protocols. He also considered that the event was a religious event whose health protocols had already been determined.

And the activities are also religious activities that maintain health protocols, ”he said.

Michdan was reluctant to comment on many additional legal steps, such as the pre-trial that Rizieq will take after the determination of the suspect. He admitted that he was still waiting for a copy of the document determining a suspect from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters.

“Yes, we’ll see,” he said.

Director of General Crimes (Dirtipidum) Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Andi Rian Djajadi said that Rizieq remains the only suspect among the Megamendung crowd. This is because the activities at Megamendung do not have a committee structure.

“The suspect has already been released. Megamendung, Bogor Ummi Hospital does not (there are suspects). Rizieq is the suspect,” Andi said.

The case of the crowd in Megamendung was taken up by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police Headquarters. Before being arrested, investigators from the West Java Regional Police had examined various parties involved in the crowd’s case. Among them are the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, and the Regent of Bogor, Ade Yassin.

Aside from the Megamendung crowd, Rizieq was also named a suspect among the Petamburan, Central Jakarta crowd. Currently, Rizieq is still in the Polda Metro Jaya Detention Center. Now the whole case is in charge of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police.
