Rows of Trillions of Ministers in Indonesia’s Advanced Cabinet, the Richest Sandiaga Uno

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Indonesia’s Maju Cabinet, recently reviewed by President Joko Widodo, approved remodeling apparently occupied by several ministers with fantastic wealth.

According to the tracking of the Ministers’ State Officials Wealth Report (LHKPN), there are at least five ministers with the status of a billionaire alias who have assets of more than Rs 1 trillion.

The enormous wealth of the ministers is many times greater than that of President Joko Widodo, whose wealth is “only” 54.7 billion rupees, or Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, who has 15.1 billion rupees.

Who are the richest ministers in the Indonesian Advanced Cabinet? Here is the list:

1. Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno

Sandiaga Uno, who was recently appointed Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, is apparently the minister with the greatest wealth.

The Gerindra Party politician with business experience has a wealth of Rs 5,099,960,524,965.

This figure is based on the LHKPN submitted by Sandiaga on August 14, 2018 as a candidate for vice president in the 2019 election.

The wealth of the former deputy governor of DKI Jakarta, among others, consists of 15 land and buildings scattered at home and abroad, securities, cash and other assets.

2. BUMN Minister Erick Thohir

Erick, who has experience as a businessman, became the second richest minister in the Advanced Cabinet of Indonesia with a wealth of Rp 2,316,600,097,385.

This wealth is based on the LHKPN that Erick broadcast on January 15, 2020 when he had just served as Minister of BUMN.

The former Inter Milan manager’s wealth, among others, consists of 30 land and buildings spread across Jakarta, Bekasi, Depok and other cities with a total value of Rs 242.547 billion.

Despite owning a large amount of land, Erick’s greatest wealth comes from his values, which are worth up to Rp.1699 billion.

3. Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto

Prabowo, who is a competitor of President Joko Widodo in the 2019 elections, is the third richest minister in Indonesia’s Advanced Cabinet with a wealth of 2,005,956,660,835 IDR.

This figure was obtained from the LHKPN that Prabowo provided on January 23, 2020 when he was just serving as Minister of Defense.

Party Chairman Gerindra is registered as the owner of 10 land and buildings in Jakarta and Bogor valued at Rs 251,704,288,000.

Prabowo’s other assets, among others, consist of securities worth IDR 1.07 billion and other assets worth IDR 40 billion.

4. Minister of the Navy and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono

Wahyu Trenggono, nicknamed the “King of the Tower” for his experience as an entrepreneur in the telecommunications sector, has a net worth of Rp 1,947,253,281,442.

This wealth is based on the LHKPN that he broadcast on January 16, 2020 while he was still serving as Deputy Minister of Defense.

Compared to other ministers, Wahyu is noted to have the largest amount of land and buildings, with 42 parcels in various locations with a total value of 54,487,473,855 rupees.

Meanwhile, like other ministers, most of Wahyu’s wealth comes from securities worth 1,667,122,333,700 rupees.

5. Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim

Nobody, who is the youngest minister in Indonesia’s Advanced Cabinet at the age of 36, appears to be one of the richest with assets of Rp 1,225,006,640,485.

This figure is based on the LHKPN provided by Nadiem on December 19, 2019 at the beginning of his term as Minister of Education and Culture.

Most of Gojek’s former boss’s wealth came from the securities he owned, valued at IDR 1,250,453,164,985.

Additionally, Nobodym also owns 6 parcels of land and buildings in South Jakarta, Gianyar and Rote Ndao worth IDR 38,675,933,850 and cash worth IDR 119,159,451,323.
