Dante Saksono Harbuwono was officially appointed by President Joko Widodo as a deputy Health Minister accompanying Budi Gunadi Sadikin, who was inaugurated as Minister of Health to replace Terawan Agus Putranto, today Wednesday (12/23).
Dante is a well known health expert who is a molecular expert on diabetes. His career was quite impressive, which is why he was once appointed a member of the Indonesian presidential team of doctors. Dante was reported to have been entrusted with the care of former Vice President Jusuf Kalla prior to the June 2014 presidential election debate.
Dante began his career in the healthcare sector studying at the University of Indonesia School of Medicine (FKUI). He also finished his studies in 1997.
After that, Dante immediately continued his education as a specialist in internal medicine at the University of Indonesia and graduated in 2004. Meanwhile, Dante also studied Molecular Diabetes at the University of Yamanashi, Japan and received a doctorate.
Dante then became active by joining the Association of Internal Medicine Specialists of Indonesia (PAPDI) in the Division of Endocrine Metabolism which deals with problems such as diabetes and thyroid.
It was also noted that the man born in 1973 served as a specialist at the Mitra Keluarga Kelapa Gading Hospital and the Metropolitan Medical Center Hospital.
And today, it is recorded that Dante is still actively working in the Endocrine Metabolic Division of the Department of Internal Medicine, FKUI or RSCM, as FKUI undergraduate and graduate student faculty for internal medicine specialists and endocrine subspecialists.
The epidemiologist of the Faculty of Public Health of the University of Indonesia (FKM UI) Pandu Riono evaluated that Dante is a doctor who has a young spirit. Pandu hopes that Dante’s position can help Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin in his efforts to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
“It is hoped that Dr. Dante, who has a young spirit, can help Pak Budi Gunadi in an era of very difficult challenges, fix the structure and management of the Ministry of Health to achieve access to health for all people. “Pandu tweeted through his personal Twitter account @ drpriono1, on Wednesday (12/23).
