Jakarta –
Napoli’s appeal for the 0-3 loss to Juventus in the Italian League was conceded by the court. President Aurelio De Laurentiis also expressed his joy.
“We are happy (with this decision),” De Laurentiis wrote on his Twitter account on Wednesday (12/23/2020) morning at WIB.
“We live in a country where people who obey the law will not be subject to sanctions. And Naples always obeys the rules,” he continued.
Previously, on October 4, giornata’s third Serie A match between Juventus vs Napoli in Turin was canceled. Napoli at that time did not go to Turin because travel was prohibited by the local health authorities (ASL).
The Partenopei squad had to isolate themselves after Piotr Zielinski and Eljif Elmas tested positive for COVID-19. Even so, Juventus were still present at the Allianz Stadium and had waited for about an hour before going to the dressing room.
As a result of not appearing on match day, Napoli eventually lost 3-0 to Juventus. Even more difficult, Lorenzo Insigne et al were also sentenced to a one point deduction.
Napoli did not accept the decision. They appealed to Lega Serie A and FIGC because they felt they had followed the instructions of the local government well.
However, his appeal failed and the sentence stood. Without giving up, Napoli filed another appeal, this time before the Council of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI). Unlike before, Napoli’s efforts this time were really successful.
CONI said the match had to be rescheduled and a lost point returned it to Napoli. It is not yet known when this match will take place, but it will most likely take place in January 2021, taking into account that during this period the Champions League and the Europa League are on vacation.
