Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – The news is that the merger or merger of PT Indosat Ooredoo Tbk is coming up. (ISAT) with PT Hutchison 3 Indonesia (Tri Indonesia) are taking a new direction on the telecom industry map.
Of course, so far Indosat has 60.4 million subscribers. Meanwhile, Tri has 38 million clients in the country. With the merger of the two businesses, the combined customers of these paper operators will be 98 million. This brings the joint venture closer to the distance between customers and market leaders, namely PT Telkomsel, which has 170 million subscribers.
The possibility of a merger of the two entities is even broader. The entities managed by Hutchison Asia Telecommunications are said to be Indonesia, Vietnam and Sri Lanka. Companies in this area have approximately 48.8 million active customer accounts. So if this scenario works, the new company will have about 119 million customers.
Consolidation also strengthens the business in optimizing frequency. Tri has just won a 5G frequency of 10 MHz, so the company’s business is even stronger. Limited use on 5G networks could be a test for companies if the merger materializes.
Others, this merger in the country brought the merged company closer to the frequency owned by Telkomsel. Currently, Indosat is clocked at 2×47.5 MHz at various frequencies. Whereas Tri has 2×25 MHz. The Tri itself has just received an additional 2300 MHz 5G network of 10 MHz. So the frequency that it owns becomes 2×72.5MHz and 10 MHz into the 5G frequency.
