JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The investigation team of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) has examined the car used by the police and six members of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) in clashes on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road two weeks ago.

Komnas HAM Commissioner Beka Ulung Hapsara said three cars were questioned, two belonging to the police and one belonging to the FPI laskar.

The three cars are in the garage of the Ranmor Branch of Metro Jaya Police. The Komnas HAM team accompanied by Bareskrim Polri examined the three cars yesterday on Monday (12/21/2020).

Beka said an Avanza police officer was seriously injured. The car was the one used by the police to secure and transport four FPI soldiers.

“There were bullet holes, sharp gun hits, then glass damage,” Beka said.

Beka admitted that she forgot the number of bullet holes in the car. However, he made sure the bullet marks were on the inside and outside of the car as well.

Beka also said there were blood stains on the car.

“Later we will analyze the blood sample,” he said.

Then, Beka said, another Toyota Avanza car also owned by the police was not damaged.

Meanwhile, a Chevrolet Spin used by the FPI army was damaged to the windshield and front tires.

“In fact, there is some damage because the information about the car crashed first, that’s a statement from the police,” Beka said.

However, Beka also admitted that she forgot whether or not there were bullet holes in the Chevrolet Spin.

The shooting of six members of the FPI paramilitaries took place in the early morning of December 7 on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road.

At that moment, the FPI laskar escorted the group of its leader, Rizieq Shihab.

During the December 14 reconstruction, the police described it as members of the FPI laskar who first attacked and shot the police during the incident.

Two members of the FPI army died after a shooting. Later, four other members of the FPI laskar were shot after trying to seize the police weapon in the car.

Bareskrim Polri revealed that there were a total of 18 gunshot wounds in the six bodies of members of the FPI laskar. Furthermore, no signs of violence were found on the six bodies.

Police said the results of the reconstruction were not final. Additional reconstruction can be done if there are new findings.

On the other hand, the FPI previously denied that members of the laskar attacked and shot the police first.

The FPI said that the police were not uniformed with several cars to intercept their group.

Therefore, the Rizieq guard army tried to get rid of the unidentified car.

Then a car carrying six FPI soldiers separated from the main group. The FPI also confirmed that the laskar members were not equipped with firearms.

“We appeal to an end to all fabrication and slander. The six victims are only innocent youth who serve their teachers, keeping their teachers safe,” said FPI Secretary General Munarman.
