AC Milan’s 6-second quick goal should be illegal, really?

LIVE – Rafael Leao caused a stir with his quick goal when AC Milan faced Sassuolo last weekend.

The Portuguese broke Sassuolo’s net when the game was only 6 seconds long. It also became the record for the fastest goals in Serie A history.

In that match, Milan won 2-1. The results that still place them at the top of the Serie A standings.

Unfortunately, now Leao’s goal has been criticized. Former Serie A referee Luca Marelli tweeted that the streak was invalid.

Marelli’s reasoning is simple. When Leao kicked he made a mistake, his foot went first to the opponent’s area.

But Marelli said the goal could not be ruled out. And when that happens, the VAR or the video assistant has no jurisdiction to verify it.

“Let’s look at a possible controversy. In Milan’s first goal, Leao’s feet were already in the other half of the field,” Marelli tweeted.

“In theory, the goals were not passed, but the VAR does not have jurisdiction over the kickoff,” he continued.

According to applicable regulations, when starting, all players must be in their own area. If someone enters another area before the first kick has been taken, it is considered invalid and must be repeated.
