TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The Corruption Eradication Commission said it would investigate the alleged role of President Joko Widodo’s son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, in the Covid-19 Social Assistance Corruption case.

“Including those questioned about the whereabouts of Brother Gibran Rakabuming, once again, all of that is information and the KPK will continue to carry out the legal process, either by tracing the information or going through the investigative process,” said the KPK vice president. , Nurul Ghufron, in his office, Jakarta, on Monday, December 21, 2020.

However, Ghufron said the KPK must filter any information it receives from the public. This information, he said, also needs to be explored to determine whether or not there is evidence for it to proceed.

Ghufron said the KPK will be firm and professional in conducting the legal process. “Once again, the KPK will firmly carry out the legal process in a professional manner, whoever it is,” he said.

Previously, Magazine Time This week’s issue mentions Gibran in the vortex of the Covid-19 welfare corruption case that led to social minister Juliari Peter Batubara becoming a suspect. Gibran is said to have influenced the purchase of gift bags for welfare.

Initially, the purchase of bags for micro, small and medium-sized companies would be prioritized. However, Magazine Time Gibran said he directed the acquisition to either PT Sri Rejeki Isman or Sritex.

Gibran has denied directing the hiring. Sritex also said there was no involvement from Gibran in naming his company. The head of corporate communication, Sritex Joy Citra Dewi, said the Ministry of Social Affairs contacted her company for the hiring.
