JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The head of the Cakung Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu, Stevano Leonard Johannes, said that thousands of Covid-19 welfare packages would be sold that were left in a warehouse owned by PT Penco Pangan Utama in the industrial area of Pulogadung, Cakung, in East Jakarta.

“The company plans to sell it to wholesalers not to lose,” Stevano said when meeting at the venue on Monday (12/21/2020).

There are 50,000 welfare packages that have been neglected.

“Per package contains 10 kilograms of rice, 10 packages of instant noodles, 9 small cans of sardines, 2 liters of cooking oil and 1 bottle of hot sauce. We verify that nothing has expired,” said Stevano.

Stevano explained that initially PT Penco Pangan Utama wanted to cooperate with the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) for the distribution of social assistance. However, this cooperation failed.

“The company has prepared a social assistance package, but the excess stock in the Ministry of Social Affairs. Finally canceled and piled up,” he said.

Previously, a video showing a pile of Covid-19 welfare in a warehouse owned by PT Penco Pangan Utama circulated on social media.

This Monday afternoon, the ranks of the Cakung Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrived at the PT Penco Pangan Utama warehouse.

“We will clarify the video, in fact (the video) is from three months ago. He said that the video was of people who really wanted to buy 50,000 welfare packages, but that has not happened now,” Stevano said.
