London –
Tottenham Hotspur manager José Mourinho admitted that his team performed poorly when they were defeated by Leicester City. However, Mourinho also believes that Leicester do not deserve to win.
Tottenham were forced to admit Leicester’s toughness in a match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (12/20/2020). Throughout the game, the Spurs registered eight attempts (3 on goal) but their attacks weren’t enough to jeopardize Leicester’s defense.
Leicester City itself is more aggressive with a total of 17 attempts (4 on goal). However, the visiting goals also came from the conversion of a Jamie Vardy penalty and an own goal by Tottenham central defender Toby Alderweireld.
“With the result it seems that the opposing team has total control of the game and is better than us, but the reality is not like that,” said Mourinho. Sky Sports.
“Our performances are not good, but that does not mean that they deserve to win or that we deserve to lose. It was not a good game, it was a bad game.”
The loss to Leicester marked a bad week for Tottenham Hotspur. Previously, the North London team was stopped by Crystal Palace 1-1, then collapsed at Liverpool 1-2. Mourinho questions the attitude of his players.
“It is not a good week in terms of results. Here we could be the team that breaks Liverpool’s record at Anfield and watches the game with great confidence,” continued the Portuguese top coach.
“I have to admit that we may have started from that disappointment, but Leicester also lost the previous game and they came with a positive attitude and we did not,” snapped Mourinho after the Tottenham vs Leicester game.
