Tottenham Hotspur’s drought in the Premier League lengthens. In entertaining Leicester City, the Spurs must admit the opponent’s advantage with a final score of 0-2.
Playing at home at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (12/20/2020), Tottenham are struggling to create clean chances. Leicester’s victories are born in each half of Jamie Vardy’s goal (penalty) and Toby Alderweireld’s own goal.
This loss means that Spurs have been unable to win in their last three league games. Previously, José Mourinho’s troops were matched by Crystal Palace and surrendered to defending champion Liverpool.
Now Tottenham have slipped to fourth place in the Premier League standings with 25 points from 14 games, six points behind Liverpool on top. Leicester climbs to second place with 27 points.

Leicester attacked more in the first minutes of the match. Meanwhile, Tottenham tends to stay.
Chaos before the goal of Tottenham. Starting on a Leicester free kick, the ball Harvey Barnes headed in front of the goal which then bounced in all directions before landing in Jamie Vardy’s way. However, Vardy’s kick was blocked before she was arrested by Hugo Lloris.
Tottenham’s best chance came in the 15th minute. From the counterattack, Sissoko’s cooperation with Kane ended with Son with a shot to the far post but no one was welcomed. Goal kick for Leicester.

Leicester doubled the score in the 48th minute. After receiving a long ball from James Justin, James Maddison slid off the Spurs’ backline. From inside the area, Maddison finished off with a right hand that beat Lloris.
However, the goal was disallowed after the referee verified via VAR. Maddison is considered offside when he receives a pass from Justin. The score is still 1-0.
Just 11 minutes later, Leicester’s long-awaited second goal was finally born. Tottenham center-back Toby Alderweireld scored an own goal to put Leicester up 2-0.
Marc Albrighton sends a cross from the right side. Under the control of two Tottenham players, Vardy headed the ball but hit Alderweireld before entering the goal.
They are almost scoring Tottenham’s response. Leicester was unable to secure Gareth Bale’s corner from where he encountered Son at the far post. The South Korean star took the ball with a point-blank volley, which Schmeichel was still able to save.
Leicester claims a penalty. Vardy’s counterattack in Leicester forces Sissoko to foul Barnes. The referee ignored him.
Leicester’s counterattack once again bothered Tottenham going into the final five minutes. Eric Dier fumbled the ball in his own defense for Youri Tielemans to control. The Belgian player continued with a shot from outside the penalty area despite the ball still floating over the goal.
