Indonesian Sharia Bank is ready to distribute Rs 54 trillion to MSMEs

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Sharia joint venture bank, PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BRIS) emphasized that it will support the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that have been carried out so far. The projection of funds to be distributed reaches 53.83 trillion rupees.

The percentage of distribution to MSMEs of the three Islamic banks to be merged is projected to reach 23% in December 2021 of total financing. The three merged banks, namely PT Bank BRISyariah Tbk (BRIS), became the beneficiary entities, and two more, PT Bank Syariah Mandiri and PT Bank BNI Syariah.

The Managing Director of BRISyariah Ngatari said that the Merger Plan that has been published clearly expresses the commitment to support the Merger Result Bank (BHP) to MSMEs.

“The Merged Banks will continue to provide support to MSMEs actors, including through People’s Business Credit (KUR), and through Islamic financial products and services that are in line with the needs of MSMEs, both directly and in synergy with Himbara banks and the Indonesian government. ” Ngatari, who is also a member of BUMN Sharia Banks’ Office of Project Management for Integration and Value Enhancement, said in a press release on Thursday (12/17/2020).

The seriousness and commitment of Bank Syariah Indonesia is reflected in the management structure with a special Board of Directors in charge of retail banking and MSMEs among the 10 members of the Board of Directors that will strengthen the largest Islamic bank in the country.

Bank Syariah Indonesia has formulated a special strategy to support Indonesian MSMEs focusing on healthy growth in the SME and microenterprise sectors using digital technology to fulfill the Indonesian government’s mandate to promote Indonesian MSMEs.

The projection of the percentage of distribution of financing to MIPYMES of the three Islamic banks that will join forces until the end of December of next year is 23%.

Furthermore, Merged Bank is ready to collaborate with all stakeholders, including Muhammadiyah, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), as well as other social organizations to promote MSMEs actors in the country.

“Support for MSMEs will not be weak, because they are the backbone of the national economy. Bank Syariah Indonesia will be part of the ecosystem and synergy of empowering MSMEs entrepreneurs, from the empowerment phase to the distribution of KUR Syariah “.

“To reach MSMEs in remote areas, we will cooperate with various parties and stakeholders throughout Indonesia to bring the projected funds channeled to MSMEs to reach Rp 53.83 billion,” he said.

As of September 2020, the total value of financing for MSMEs owned by the three Himbara Islamic banks reached 36.36 trillion IDR. This amount consists of financing from MIPYMES owned by PT Bank BRISyariah worth IDR 18.7 billion, PT Bank Syariah Mandiri IDR 11.67 billion and PT Bank BNI Syariah IDR 5.99 billion.
