LAMPUNG, KOMPAS.com – The suspect in the terrorism case Taufik Bulaga, alias Upik Lawanga, is suspected of breeding ducks to disguise his weapons manufacturing activities.

Lampung regional police chief of public relations Kombes Zahwani Pandra Arsyad (Pandra) said local residents knew the fugitive from the Bali I bombing as Udin Bebek.

“The suspect here says his name is Safrudin, who sells sliced ​​duck, known as Udin Bebek,” Pandra said at the location of the suspect’s home, Seputih Banyak, Central Lampung, on Saturday (12/19/2020).

According to Pandra, Upik Lawanga deliberately kept ducks to disguise the sound when assembling or testing weapons.

“So the suspect bred this duck so that local residents couldn’t hear the sound when arming guns. The suspect really thought about it,” Pandra said.

The head of the Public Relations Division of Public Relations of the Police Headquarters, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, said that local residents discovered that the suspect had lived at the scene for a long time.

“Since 2013, the suspect has lived at this location,” Ahmad said.

It was also known that the suspect did not hang out with local residents very often, apart from the considerable distance between neighbors.

“The distance from the nearest neighbor’s house is about 100 meters,” Ahmad said.

As previously reported, the ranks of the Public Relations Division of the Lampung Police Headquarters and Public Relations of the Lampung Police visited the location of the bunker at Upik Lawanga’s residence.

Upik is known to be a Jamaah Islamiyah figure known for his expertise in assembling weapons and explosives.
