A week behind bars, Habib Rizieq continues to preach

JAKARTA – Even a week for the Grand Imam of the Front of Islamic Defenders (FPI) Habib Rizieq Shihab served a period of detention at the Polda Metro Jaya Narcotics Detention Center after being named a suspect in the alleged sedition.

The Legal Aid Team of Habib Rizieq, who is also Secretary of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), DPP Legal Aid, Aziz Yanuar, said that Habib Rizieq is in good health. He also shared his daily activities while in detention.

In addition to reading the books the family previously brought, Habib Rizieq also spent time writing.

Not only that, Habib Rizieq also surprised the prisoners. “Apart from that, he is also preaching to the detainees at the Polda Metro Jaya detention center,” Azis said when contacted by iNews.id on Sunday (12/20/2020).

As is known, Investigators from Subdit I of the Polda Metro Jaya Military Criminal Investigation Directorate officially detained Rizieq on Sunday morning, December 13, 2020. Habib Rizieq was taken into custody around 12:22 p.m. WIB after undergoing an examination for 13 hours.

In this case, Rizieq was charged with articles 160 and 216 of the Penal Code. Article 160 of the Penal Code contains the incitement to violence and non-compliance with legal provisions, with the threat of six years in prison.
