KOMPAS.TV – Protesters in Pontianak, West Kalimantan attacked and beat the police who tried to control the crowd in the action of 1812.

The beatings began when the police saw the burning of tires by the 1812 protesters. At the same time, the police tried to disperse the crowd of protesters.
Suddenly there were neighbors who tried to attack the police, despite the fact that there were several protesters trying to protect the victim.
The attacker attacked the police and then fled to leave the scene. Not just one, at least 2 policemen were beaten while guarding the action in Pontianak.
Police arrested the perpetrator, who was suspected of being a resident of East Pontianak. The author was arrested at his home shortly after the beatings and was investigated intensively by the West Kalimantan Regional Police.
Initially, the masses that had gathered burned tires at an intersection in Jalan Tanjungraya, East Pontianak district, Pontianak city.
That action obstructed traffic around the site. “Because the action caused obstructions to traffic and could be a means of provocation, the officers not far from the scene made efforts to extinguish and disperse the masses,” said the head of Public Relations of the West Kalimantan Regional Police , Kombes Pol Donny Charles Go.
When extinguishing the fire, the officers received punches and kicks from the participants in the action. Kombes Pol Donny also said police were also hit with blunt objects.
Meanwhile, the beaten police officer suffered bruises on various parts of his body and was being treated at the hospital.
According to a written statement from the West Kalimantan Regional Police, the perpetrator not only struck but also kicked.
