Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
A ‘rabbit’ car or Odong-odong walk into ravine because it is not strong when climbing in Sedangkrong, Kluwih Village, Batang Regency, Central Java on Friday (12/18) afternoon.
At the time of the incident, the odong-odong was found to be carrying 13 passengers. As a result of the incident, three passengers died.
“The single accident also resulted in one seriously injured passenger and nine slightly injured passengers,” Batang Police Traffic Unit chief AKP Doddy Triantoro in Batang said on Friday (12/18) as reported by Between.
He explained that the accident started when odong-odong went from west to east on a straight, uphill road. At the time, the weather was drizzling.
As they passed the slope, Doddy said, it turned out that the odong-odongs weren’t strong enough to climb, presumably because they were overloaded.
“It is possible that the ‘rabbit’ train is carrying too many passengers so it does not have enough strength to climb and enter a ravine,” he said.
Doddy said that currently the odong-odong driver named Tahari is still under investigation to investigate the incident.
“We are still investigating and requesting the testimony of various witnesses in the accident case,” Doddy said.
Three victims died in this accident, namely a 4-year-old boy, Tariyah (60) and Cupiah (60). All three are residents of Dukuh Sipule, Kluwih Village, Bandar district.
Later, the injured victims were Sumiyati (30), Asifa Fitri Andriani (3), Musriah (60), Dariyah (46), Nur Azizah (55), Damiyah (40), Kartini (75), Suudi (75) and Kartiyah . (60).
“The wounded were treated at Kalisari Batang Regional Hospital and Bandar Puskesmas,” Doddy said.
