Police claim to have found matches between projectiles and firearms allegedly owned by FPI Laskar

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Based on ballistic evidence, the police found a match between the crime scene projectiles (TKP) and two firearms that were allegedly used by members of the army guarding the leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab .

“There is a coincidence (between the two firearms that were supposedly used by members of the FPI laskar and the projectiles found in the TKP or in police cars)”, said the director of General Crimes of Criminal Investigation of the National Police , Brigadier General (Pol), Andi Rian R Djajadi, when contacted by Kompas.com, on Friday (12/18/2020).

Police previously believed that the two weapons were used by members of the FPI laskar. The evidence that the police claimed to have found was soot in the hands of members of the Laskar.

In addition to the ballistic test results, the police have also pocketed two types of firearms that were allegedly confiscated from members of the FPI Laskar when they attacked the police.

“Weapon model stir not manufacturer. The language of the market is assembled. The ammunition used is 9mm caliber ”, he said.

However, it is said that the origins of the gathered senpi have not become the focus of researchers.

“Researchers are currently more focused on using (senpi) illegally, they can come from anywhere,” he said.

Apart from the two senpi, the police also seized seven bullets, three shell casings, a sickle and a katana sword, which apparently belonged to members of the FPI laskar.

It is known, in that incident, that up to six members of the FPI laskar were shot dead after allegedly attacking the police in the incident on Monday (7/12/2020) in the morning.

The six of them have not yet been declared suspects, but rather according to reports from members of the Police suspected of having been attacked.

Until now, the investigation process is still carried out by the General Directorate of Crimes, Bareskrim Polri.

Regarding the reconstruction on Monday morning (12/14/2020), the police described that members of the FPI laskar first attacked and shot the police during the incident.

According to the police, two members of the FPI laskar died after a shooting. Later, four other members of the FPI Laskar were shot after allegedly trying to seize police weapons in the car.

Police said the results of the reconstruction were not final. Additional reconstruction may be possible if there are new findings.

On the other hand, the FPI previously denied that the laskar members attacked and shot the police first. According to the FPI, the members of the laskar are not equipped with firearms.
