The National Police said that members of the terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) who have permanent jobs must set aside 5 percent of their income to be deposited in the central JI. Afterwards, the money raised will be given to other JI members who do not have permanent jobs.

“Of the members themselves, members of the JI, there are many professions, there are sellers of ducks, fried plantains, sellers of what and what, 5 percent move away and then are sent to the central JI”, said the Head of Relations Public of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono during a press conference at the Police Headquarters. Jalan Trunojoyo, South Jakarta, Friday (12/18/2020).

“That money is used to fund all the networks and cells in Indonesia that do not have permanent jobs. In the meantime, those with permanent jobs must step aside,” he continued.

Argo said that in addition to membership dues, JI obtained funds from a charity fund. The charity boxes, Argo said, are scattered in various places that are easily visible to people.

“Officially registered charity boxes are set up in various places or places that are easily visible to people. There are people transactions, so if there is change or something, it can be reserved to fill the charity box,” he said.

Argo reported that the funding for the JI group was also obtained from donations from the foundation. One of the foundations called Argo and that is being investigated by the police is One Care.

“Then, also from One Care Foundation we are verifying where this foundation comes from,” he said.
