Police intercepted a bus containing a mass from the Pandeglang-Lebak Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) that was to carry out the 1812 action at the Jakarta State Palace today. They were asked to turn around and return to their respective homes.

Banten Kombes Regional Police Chief of Public Relations Edy Sumardi confirmed that police personnel conducted isolation and asked the mass bus to turn around. This is done to anticipate the spread of the virus and conditions are increasingly stringent in Jakarta.

“Yes, there was a bus with 50 people, the point is to anticipate the spread of the virus,” Edy said when confirmed via a cellular connection in Serang, Banten, on Friday (12/18/2020).

The bus itself was blocked by the Serang Police at 0500 WIB. The bus carrying 50 FPI Masses was brought by DPW FPI Lebak treasurer named Mulyadi. The masses themselves were mostly from Malingping Lebak district and Picung district, Pandeglang.

The staff, he said, immediately appealed and asked them to turn around to cancel their departure to the State Palace. The bus was then directed back to Malingping to the gathering point for the crowd.

“They were asked to return to the initial pickup location in Malingping,” he concluded.

The Banten Regional Police and their own joint team carried out isolation today to prevent the FPI crowd from going to Jakarta by 22 points. There are 1,200 troops deployed to monitor the massive access that does not reach the capital.

Some are guarded at East Serang, West Serang, Merak Toll Gate, Balaraja, CIkande, Ciujung, train stations and other entrances.
