The FPI army in Rizieq Shihab’s entourage denies that there was a shooting on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – A member of the Laskar from the Front of Islamic Defenders (FPI), say X (not his real name), who was part of the group escorting Rizieq Shihab, denied that there had been a shooting on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road.

This statement was broadcast by X on the “Najwa Eyes” broadcast on Thursday (12/17/2020). Kompas.com he had obtained Najwa Shihab’s permission to cite the broadcast.

“And there are no shootings on the toll roads,” X said.

X also said that the FPI laskar had no firearms or sharp weapons as police allege.

According to X, his party did not cause the incident.

“The FPI does not exist, it is not ours (weapons) and that is slander,” he said.

That day, according to X, he and other members of the laskar were assigned to escort Rizieq, who had a family recitation schedule somewhere.

When Rizieq’s entourage and his squad of escorts left the Sentul compound, they were followed by three suspicious cars. The recon car was said to want to get closer to Rizieq’s car.

He also admitted that he had approached the suspect car and asked to stay away from Rizieq’s car.

However, the suspicious vehicles returned when the group wanted to exit through the East Karawang toll gate.

“We diverted them so they couldn’t follow the route Habibana was going,” he said.

The reconnaissance vehicle was lured in to follow the vehicle of the paramilitary members of the FPI circling the Karawang area towards the West Karawang tollbooth.

Then they found themselves in a dark place. Three reconnaissance cars were said to have blocked the vehicle carrying X.

Meanwhile, a Chevrolet vehicle containing six members of the FPI army who died was in front of the car carrying X. The Chevrolet car was blocked by a truck carrying a new car.

Next, vehicle X passes the Chevrolet car and returns to the highway. He admitted that he had heard the noise and stopped.

However, because it was on the toll road, the car X was riding in was unable to make a U-turn. The six members of the FPI paramilitary unit in a Chevrolet car could not be reached.

“We tried to call everyone there, but we couldn’t as we walked to the KM 57 rest area,” X said.

Police version

It is known that there are differences of information between the police and the FPI regarding this incident.

During the reconstruction on Monday (12/14/2020) in the early hours of the morning, the police described that members of the FPI laskar first attacked and shot the police.

After that, a shooting occurred that resulted in the death of two members of the FPI laskar.

The four surviving members of the FPI laskar were then taken to Polda Metro Jaya. However, they are said to have attempted to seize the police weapon while in the car heading to Polda Metro Jaya.

The police then opened fire and members of the FPI laskar were taken to the Kramat Jati police hospital in East Jakarta.

Police said the results of the reconstruction were not final. The police open the possibility of carrying out a further reconstruction if there are new finds.
