North Cipete urban village chief Nurcahya was beaten during a health protocol raid on Waroeng Brothers. Two people were identified as suspects and detained by the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police in connection with the case.
South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Budi Sartono said the two suspects, PK (22) and RQ (22), were housewives. Both are now detained by the police for the alleged attack on the head of the urban village of Nurcahya.
Kombes Budi said the two suspects were visitors to the ‘Waroeng brothers’ Cipete Utara, Kebayoran Baru, in South Jakarta. Both were charged under article 170 of the Penal Code related to beatings.
“Visitors, visitors to the cafe. For the article we are wearing Article 170 of the Penal Code, the threat is 7 years,” Kombes Budi Sartono said during a press conference at the South Jakarta subway police headquarters, Jl Wijaya II, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/15/2020).
The police explained that the incident occurred when the Chief of the Village of Cipete Norte Nurcahya carried out a raid on the health protocols on November 22, 2020 at dawn last morning. Nurcahya saw a crowd at Waroeng Brothers at that time.
“So the chronology is, that night, when the reporter as head of North Cipete Village along with brother Rohim and Rohmani checked the situation and saw that somewhere there was a cafe that was still busy and did not obey the health protocols” Budi said.
Nurcahya then appealed to the visitors about the health protocol. However, Nurcahya received resistance from visitors to the cafe.
He was surrounded by two beaten suspects. As a result of this incident, Nurcahya was injured.
“After being warned by the victim, that is, as a state official, that is, as a village head, it turned out that these suspects fought back, that is, they were beaten, strangled, grabbed in the face, causing wounds on the cheek and on the left hand”. Budi said.
