“The Netherlands will be closed for 5 weeks,” Rutte was quoted as saying by the news agency. AFP, Tuesday (12/15/2020).
“We are not dealing with a simple flu like the people behind us think,” he said, referring to the protesters protesting as Rutte was delivering his speech.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a 4-day shutdown during the New Year holidays. This policy was adopted to prevent an increase in cases of infection by the Corona virus (COVID-19).
Reported by the AFP news agency, on Tuesday (12/15/2020), Erdogan said that the closure of the national weekend and the daily curfew imposed this month managed to stop the spread of the Corona virus. The coronavirus in a country of 83 million people has killed 16,464 people.
Daily deaths from COVID-19 in Turkey hit a record this month, before declining in recent days.
Erdogan said the latest figures show that Turkey’s restrictions are working and announced a national curfew from 9 p.m. on December 31 to 5 a.m. on January 4, 2021.
He said the lockdown was necessary “to consolidate our good results” in the fight against the coronavirus.
Tracking the number of Corona infections in Turkey is complicated because in the last five months, authorities have only reported the number of symptomatic cases of COVID-19.
Then, without explanation, officials turned to report the total number of infections and added all previously unreported cases to Dec. 10.
Turkey reported 29,617 new cases of Corona infection on Monday (12/14), this figure represents one of the highest daily increases in cases in Europe.
