BEKASI, KOMPAS.com – The police revealed the reason why the owner of the Tiffany cafe, which is located in Jalan Transyogi, Bekasi city, locked the door when the Pondok Gede police chief and the Koramil were inside the cafe to disperse the visitors.

The reason is that visitors continue to pay the bill before leaving the cafe.

“So the owner of the cafe wants the customer to pay the bill first, so the customer will settle the account first,” said Pondok Head of Criminal Investigation Unit Gede Iptu Santri Dirga when confirmed, on Tuesday (15 / 12/2020).

As a result, hundreds of visitors and security forces were trapped in the cafe for almost 30 minutes.

The shutdown of the security forces began when the Covid-19 Hunters Task Force wanted to disperse visitors from Tiffany’s cafe on Sunday (12/13/2020) at 00.30.

The officers dispersed the visitors because the cafe was operating outside the specified time limit. Furthermore, visitors also do not implement health protocols such as wearing masks and keeping their distance.

Due to this situation, the police chief immediately dispersed the visitors.

When they wanted to disperse the visitors, apparently the manager had closed the entrance.

“There were visitors who informed us that apparently the door was closed. How was it closed? We verified that it was really closed,” Santri explained.

Authorities immediately asked the security officer about the whereabouts of the key. However, security forces said they did not know.

After a search, the police finally found the key on one of the waiters’ tables. As a result, they managed to get out.

Dirga said her party would coordinate with the ranks of the Bekasi city government to make coffee subject to sanctions in accordance with applicable regional regulations.

“To seal, it is the authority of the local government. We will coordinate because the application is not in our domain,” said Dirga.
