CIAMIS, KOMPAS.com – A crowd acting on behalf of Muslims from Ciamis Regency, West Java, arrived at the Ciamis police headquarters in Jalan Jenderal Sudirman on Sunday afternoon (12/13/2020).

They expressed their willingness to participate in jail for violating health protocols.

It should be noted that several of these protesters also welcomed Rizieq Shihab’s arrival in Petamburan, Jakarta.

With Rizieq detained on charges of violating health protocols, the protesters also felt they should be punished the same as Rizieq Shihab, that is, imprisonment.

“We gave up and were ready to go to jail,” said Ciamis Regency Muslim Community representative Deden Badrul Kamal when confirmed by phone on Sunday.

Deden said the police shouldn’t just jail one person, namely Rizieq Shihab in this case.

“We are also going (to Jakarta), we must be imprisoned. Not just one person (who is imprisoned),” he said.

Before transmitting their aspirations to the Ciamis Police, the masses gathered at the Great Mosque of Ciamis. Then they walked from the Great Mosque to the Ciamis Police.

Regarding the demonstration at the Police Headquarters, Ciamis Police Chief AKBP Doni Eka Putra said that the handling of the Rizieq Shihab case had nothing to do with the Ciamis Police. The Rizieq case was handled by Polda Metro Jaya.

“It has nothing to do with us, Ciamis Police,” he explained.

Doni said that his party had explained to the protesters that the incident of Rizieq Shihab’s arrest was handled by Polda Metro Jaya. After receiving an explanation, the protesters dispersed in an orderly manner.

“Alhamdulillah is auspicious,” Doni said.
