“I emphasize that Indonesia is a rule of law. The law must be obeyed and applied to protect the interests of the people, protect the interests of the nation and the state. Jokowi during sports activities through a written statement, on Sunday (12/13).
Based on that, he affirmed, society cannot act arbitrarily and commit acts that violate the law that harm society and endanger the nation and the country.
“The legal apparatus should not be afraid or back down at all in its application,” he said.
However, in the performance of their duties, he recalled that law enforcement officials must follow the rule of law, protect human rights, and exercise reasonable and measurable authority.
“If there are differences of opinion about the law enforcement process, I call for legal mechanisms to be used,” Jokowi said.
He affirmed that the legal mechanism has regulated a series of procedures up to the judicial process with decisions that must be respected.
If an independent institution is required, Indonesia also has a National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM), where the public can submit complaints.
“We have to maintain justice and legal security in our country, safeguard the foundations of Indonesia’s progress,” he said.
