One month in the footsteps of Rizieq in Indonesia he becomes a prisoner

Officials of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab stopped by Polda Metro Jaya until the next 20 days in order to investigate the crowd case in Petamburan, Jakarta. Rizieq, who is the suspect, is being held at the Polda Metro Jaya Narcotics Detention Center.

Rizieq returned to his homeland from Saudi Arabia on November 10. But now, a month later, he must be in prison. Police argued that the arrest was carried out because they were concerned that Rizieq would escape, lose evidence, and fear repeating his actions.

The following is the chronology of Rizieq’s return to being detained by the police.

November 10 Rizieq came to Indonesia after living in Saudi Arabia since 2017. His return was greeted by thousands of people at Soekarno-Hatta airport. Several flights were interrupted.

November 11thRizieq encountered various figures such as Anies Baswedan, Amien Rais, from the high-ranking Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).

12th of November, Rizieq attended an event in Pondok Ranggon, Cipayung, East Jakarta to give a lecture. Many of the masses who attended ignored health protocols.

November 13, Rizieq attended Prophet Muhammad SAW’s birthday at the residence of Al Afaf Al Habib Ali bin Abdurrahman Assegaf’s Taklim, Tebet. At that time there were many people present.

On the same day, Rizieq went to the FPI Sharia Headquarters of the Islamic Agrocultural Natural Boarding School located in Megamendung, Bogor.

November 14th, Rizieq celebrated the Prophet’s birthday and married his daughter, Najwa Syihab in Petamburan, Central Jakarta. The event drew crowds amid the pandemic.

November 15, Satpol PP DKI Jakarta fined Rizieq 50 million rupees for violating health protocols at the Prophet’s birthday event in Petamburan. That same day, Rizieq immediately paid a fine to the DKI provincial government.

Nov. 16
As a result of the Rizieq crowd case, Kapolda Metro Jaya and Kapolda West Java were removed from their posts. The police began calling all parties related to the Prophet’s birthday and the wedding of Rizieq’s daughter.

November 17The Governor of Jakarta, DKI, Anies Baswedan, and eight other officials attended the Polda Metro Jaya investigation into the Rizieq crowd. Police also began investigating the existence of a criminal element in the crowd at the Rizieq event.

November 18thThe committee for the marriage birthday of the daughter of the prophet Rizieq Shihab was questioned by the police.

19 NovemberApart from Anies, the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, was also questioned by the National Criminal Investigation Police about the Rizieq crowd in Megamendung.

November 23DKI Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria was questioned by the Jakarta metro police over the Rizieq crowd case in Petamburan.

25 NovemberIt is said that Rizieq was treated at Ummi Hospital, Bogor, due to fatigue.

26 NovemberPolice raised the status of the Rizieq crowd case in Petamburan from one investigation to another because there were suspicions of crimes.

November 29thPolda Metro Jaya continued the case by sending a summons to Rizieq

1 December, Rizieq was absent from the invitation to the Polda Metro Jaya for health reasons.

7 DecemberRizieq was again absent from the examination and the authorities threatened to be forcibly detained. In addition to Polda Metro, Rizieq was also summoned by the West Java Regional Police to undergo an interrogation on 10 December about the crowd in Megamendung.

On the same day, a clash broke out resulting in the death of six Rizieq supporters on the Cikampek toll road. They clashed with the police while escorting Rizieq, who was about to attend the recitation with his family in an area.

10 December, Polda Metro Jaya named Rizieq and five other organizers of the Prophet’s birthday in Petamburan as suspects. The police also prevented Rizieq from traveling abroad. Rizieq was charged with the articles of sedition against the crowds in Petamburan, namely article 160 of the Penal Code and article 216 of the Penal Code. Rizieq is absent from the West Java Police subpoena.

December 11Rizieq’s team of lawyers and five other suspects visited Polda Metro Jaya. They come to ask for subpoenas as suspects. The West Java Regional Police sent Rizieq a second summons.

12 December, Rizieq came to Polda Metro Jaya and underwent an examination. On the same occasion, the police also issued an arrest warrant for Rizieq. Rizieq faces a maximum prison sentence of six years.

December 13th The police detained Rizieq for the next 20 days, from December 12 to December 31, 2020. Rizieq was detained at the Polda Metro Jaya narcotics detention center.
