Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments, General TNI (Purn) Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, emphasized that now vaccines for urgent needs are awaiting approval from related parties.

“Now this vaccine has arrived, waiting for emergency use (from BPOM), if possible, how many can we inject it by the end of the year. But although it is still waiting, I hope it can,” Luhut said in the Shopee webinar: Work Together across the country on Saturday (12/12/2020).

In addition, Luhut said that the first installment to receive vaccines next year could reach several tens of millions.

“If that happens, then I think the economic activity will increase or the predictions of known people and institutions or other countries see Indonesia as a very compliant place. Because they see our program against Covid vaccines, I think it gives good hope,” he said.

As is known, the government has set itself a goal of 170 million Indonesians receiving vaccines next year. The vaccines will be distributed in two schemes, namely a subsidy scheme and a separate scheme.

Meanwhile, Luhut said that to achieve the government’s goal regarding vaccination, various parties need cooperation. Where everyone should keep their distance and not gather from the crowd.

“Actually it can now be relative […], we limit Covid-19 if we are all disciplined. No more crowds, collecting people to make new clusters. We must all be aware that all leaders know that there is no way to meet. There will definitely be a new cluster and it could cause problems, “he said.

Indonesia has now recorded 605,243 positive cases, with 18,511 deaths and 496,886 recoveries, according to Worldometers data as of Saturday.
