Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Name Andrei Angouw the crowd was immediately spoken of when the results of a quick count indicated that he and Richard Sualang were superior Pilkada City Manado 2020. If the results of the quick count are the same as those of the General Election Commission (KPU) vote count, Andrei has a chance to become the first Confucian Indonesian regional chief.
Andrei is known for being a politician in the Indonesian Democratic Struggle Party. He began his career as a politician when he was elected to the North Sulawesi Provincial DPRD for the 2009-2014 term.
Andrei was then re-elected as a council member in the North Sulawesi Province in 2014-2019. In this period his career took off, after Andrei was appointed by the PDIP in 2016 to become the president of the North Sulawesi DPRD replacing Steven Kandouw, who at that time participated in regional elections simultaneously and was elected. Lieutenant Governor of North Sulawesi.
Armed with increasingly mature political capital, the man who was born in Manado on May 23, 1971 again walked to the North Sulawesi DPRD for the 2019-2024 period. Andrei also held the post of chairman of the North Sulawesi DPRD after being appointed by the PDI-P DPP.
However, a year later, Andrei decided to run for mayor of Manado. Along with Richard Sualang, they were both promoted by PDIP.
After making sure to advance Pilkada 2020 simultaneously, Andrei was found to be one of the richest candidates for regional head. According to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) analysis of the State Officials Wealth Report (LHKPN), Andrei ranks fifth on the list of the richest regional chief candidates.
It is recorded that it has assets for an amount of Rp273,575,845,946. Andrei’s total assets are even larger than those of North Sulawesi gubernatorial candidate Olly Dondokambey, who only has IDR 179,156,295,217.
In fact, if the category is downgraded, he is the richest mayoral candidate in Pilkada 2020. In the KPK’s top 10 richest regional top candidates list, there are at least five richest mayoral candidates in this regional election.
Besides Andrei, there is a mayoral candidate from Palu Hadianto Rasyid who has assets of IDR 263,582,578,396. Then Tomohon Wenny Lumentut mayoral candidate with assets of Rs 222,007,796,662.
Next, the candidate for mayor of Makassar M. Ramdhan Pomanto with assets of Rs 197,522,838,457 and the candidate for deputy mayor of Makassar, Fadli Ananda, with assets of 149,259,675,073 rupees.
Andrei has a good chance of winning the Manado regional elections. According to the results of the quick count by the Indonesian Polling Institute (LSI), Andrei, who was paired with Richard, was superior to his three rivals with 36.41 percent of the vote.
Andrei-Richard surpassed the Julyeta Runtuwene-Harley Mangindaan couple in second place with 27.66 percent of votes, followed by Mor Dominus Bastiaan-Hanny Pajouw with 22.64 percent, then Sonya Selviana-Syarifudin Syafa in the outstanding position with 13.29 percent.
If the results of the quick count are no different from the results of the KPU recap, Andrei has a chance to make history as the first Confucian regional chief. Since the Confucian religion was officially recognized as a religion in the era of President Abdurrahman Wahid, there has not been a single Confucian regional leader.
Confucianism, as it is known, has existed in the archipelago for hundreds of years, but the state only recognized Confucian religion during the reign of President Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur in 2000.
At that time, Gus Dur also freed Confucians to practice their religion openly and celebrate their religious days.
At that time, Gus Dur revoked Presidential Instruction No. 14/1967. This Presidential Instruction was issued in the era of the New Order, which prohibited the open implementation of all kinds of Chinese traditions, including Confucianism.
In return, Gus Dur issued Presidential Decree No. 6/2000. The Presidential Decree revoked Inpres 14/1967.
