jpnn.com, JAKARTA – The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam), Mahfud MD, admitted that he had no plans to meet and enter into dialogue with the Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Habib Rizieq Shihab.
“If I don’t have a plan like that, I don’t have such a plan,” Mahfud was quoted as saying in the broadcast on Beritasatu’s YouTube account on Friday (11/12).
Mahfud also explained that, as a state official, he had to be selective in complying with invitations to dialogue from certain parties. Also, the inviting party comes from an organization that is not a legal entity.
“They invited me to a meeting, for example tomorrow, yes, I said it was not clear who invited, who was responsible for whom and so on. There is an organization that does not have a legal entity, yes, I cannot accept that,” he said.
The former president of the Constitutional Court affirmed that the government still listens to the aspirations of the FPI, although it did not open spaces for dialogue to the organization.
For example, the government listens to the aspirations of FPI regarding the return of Habib Rizieq. The government did not prevent Habib Rizieq from returning to Indonesia.
“So Habib Rizieq can go home, I said you can go home, who’s forbidding to go home? Go back home. That’s an aspiration, right. If there’s something wrong with Habib Rizieq being forbidden, Habib Rizieq It’s not allowed, yes, I say yes. He has the legal right to go home, that means, right, we are aspirational, “he said.
“However, in legal matters, the public also has its own aspirations. Well, please open it legally later. How is the real problem? (ast / jpnn)
