Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia– The addition of positive cases of Covid-19 in West Java has increased in recent times and has caused more and more patients to have to undergo independent care and isolation. Bandung City is no exception, which has also shown a high number of cases recently.
Head of the Health Subdivision in the Volunteer Coordination Division of the Covid-19 Working Group dr. Jossep F. William, who currently works in Bandung, West Java, said the high increase in cases in the capital was also accompanied by the preparation of emergency hospitals and the recruitment of medical volunteers. Currently, according to him, it is quite difficult to find empty beds for Covid-19 patients in city hospitals due to the large number of active cases.
“It can be said that the hospitals in Bandung City are full, it is difficult to find an empty place for the isolation of Covid-19. This is quite concerning and we are doing micro-CBBS, many roads are closed. In the future, the transmission is expected not to be too high, which is important. not road closures but the implementation of disciplined health protocols, ”said Jossep, on Friday (11/12/2020).
He also hopes that community gatherings can be reduced to prevent transmission. Jossep said that the most difficult obstacle in managing Covid-19 in Bandung was apart from lax health protocols, there were some people who did not believe in the existence of Covid-19 and did not understand the dangers of this virus.
“Last October, we conducted trainings for 3,000 volunteers for behavior change. So now we are trying to distribute volunteers to points in the community to carry out education, socialization and carry out health protocols. Otherwise, everyone our efforts will be heavy and there will be no significant results because the number of victims will fall, “he said.
As elsewhere, the largest group in Bandung is the family group. For this reason, the Task Force encourages people to care more about their families through the implementation of health protocols. The city of Bandung also has a social worker program to remove estimates that appear in the community so that survivors and medical personnel who handle Covid-19 are not rejected in the community.
“Currently there are about 400 people and they are all working, hopefully with the existing program we can help the local government,” he said.
The spokesperson for the Covid-19 Management Working Group, Wiku Adisasmito, emphasized that the control of Covid-19 would not be effective or depend on a single method. According to him, a number of other efforts must be made to cover up the shortcomings and complement each other.
“For example, the 3M protocol, which is only one aspect, and the 3T, which is only an attempt, will result in a less effective control of Covid-19. The vaccination steps must be followed by discipline in the implementation of protocols of health, “he said.
