Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Research and Technology Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro said that Gajah Mada University (UGM) researchers would have a cheap Covid-19 test kit. Its name is GeNose.

Bambang Brodjonegoro said that this tool will detect the corona virus Covid-19 through the breath because this virus attacks the respiratory tract. Exam time is also short, less than 3 minutes.

“The level of precision so far in its validation in various hospitals has reached more than 90%. The results are consistent with the results of the PCR Swab test,” he said in a webinar, on Friday (11/12/2020) .

Bambang Brojonegoro added that in the initial calculation this tool costs Rs 60 million and can be used for 100,000 exams. If you have exceeded the maximum limit, this tool can be repaired and used again.

“The estimated price, if the operator calculates the electricity with plastic, is Rp. 7,000-Rp. 8,000, so the estimate for a test is around Rp. 15,000,” Bambang said.

Bambang Brojonegoro said that this tool is ready for mass production, but there are still several reports that need to be prepared to obtain a distribution permit and the Ministry of Health.

“Basically, everything is ready for mass production and use. In our last conversation with the UGM developer, they said that there is still a deadline, the final report, which must be presented to the Ministry of Health so that the tool receives immediately a distribution permit, “concluded Bambang Brodjonegoro.
