Kapolda Metro Jaya: We will arrest Habib Rizieq!

One of the suspects was the leader of the Front of Islamic Defenders (FPI) Muhammad Rizieq Shihab.

“There are six who have been named as suspects. The first is the organizer of the MRS brothers,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Police, Mr. Comr. Yusri Yunus at a press conference on Thursday (10/12/2020).

Regarding the determination of the suspect, Polda Metro has also sent a letter preventing them from leaving the country to the General Directorate of Migration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

In addition to Rizieq Shihab, Polda Metro Jaya investigators have named five other people as suspects in cases of violation of the Sanitary Quarantine Law.

The five were made up of the committee or organizer of Habib Rizieq’s daughter’s wedding reception in Petamburan last November.

The Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq and five other suspects were charged with various articles, including articles 160 and 216 of the Penal Code.

Article 160 of the Penal Code states: “ Anyone who in public, orally or in writing, incites a criminal act, commits violence against a general authority or does not comply with both the provisions of the law and a mandate issued based on the provisions of the law, will be punished with a maximum imprisonment. six years or a maximum fine of Rs 4,500. ‘

While, Article 216 of the Penal Code says: ‘who deliberately fails to comply with orders or requests formulated in accordance with the law by an official whose function is to supervise something, or by an official based on his functions, as well as those authorized to investigate or examine a criminal act ; Likewise, any person who deliberately prevents, obstructs or counteracts compliance with the provisions of the law by one of these officials, will be punished with a maximum prison sentence of four months and two weeks or a maximum fine of Rp.

Lawyer’s response

Habib Rizieq Shihab’s legal advisor Aziz Yanuar spoke about the determination of the suspect and Polda Metro Jaya’s plan to arrest his client and five other people who had also been identified as suspects.

According to Aziz, his party still has no plans to present a trial prior to the determination of his client as a suspect by the Polda Metro Jaya investigation team regarding a case of alleged violation of the Covid-19 health protocol.

“He hasn’t (filed a pretrial) yet,” Aziz said on Thursday (10/12/2020).

Aziz also explained that at this time his party was still coordinating with Rizieq Shihab regarding the determination of the suspect and the plan to arrest his client by the Polda Metro Jaya investigation team.
