Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto explain the reasons why the government provides corona vaccine in the population aged 18 to 59 years. That is, because clinical trials of new vaccines were conducted in residents of that age.

“We explain why the ages of 18 to 59 years were taken, because in the world, which is carried out for 3 clinical trials in that age range, clinical trials have not been carried out for higher or lower ranges,” he said at the meeting. with Commission IX, Thursday (10/12).

He emphasized that all countries are still groping for the development of the corona vaccine. This is because there has not been a single covid-19 vaccine in the world that has received a distribution permit. Currently, only Emergency Use Authorization (USA) has been granted.


“As long as no one has repair (Certainly), we do not have a distribution permit, yes, we are testing, everyone is testing because there is no distribution permit, only the US, and only one from England, “he said.

Terawan stressed that the government will continue to follow the development of the corona vaccine in the world. However, the government will continue to prioritize safety in the selection of the covid-19 vaccine.

“Our agreement is that safety and security are our top priorities,” he explained.

It is known that the government introduced up to 1.2 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine in the country last Sunday (12/6). Meanwhile, the remaining 1.8 million doses will arrive by the end of this month.

The Minister of Health himself has determined 6 types of covid-19 vaccines that can be used in Indonesia. All six vaccines are produced by PT Bio Farma (Persero), AstraZeneca, and China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation (Sinopharm).

Also, the covid-19 vaccine manufactured by Moderna, Pfizer Inc and BioNtech, and Sinovac Biotech. This decision is contained in the Decree of the Minister of Health Number HK.01.07 / Menkes / 9860/2020 on the Determination of Types of Vaccines for the Implementation of Covid-19 Vaccines.
