Couple Denny Indrayana-Difriadi failed to beat incumbent Sahbirin Noor-Muhidin on quick counts or Quick tell Charter Politika Pilkada South Borneo.
Denny-Difri was only able to get 49.69 percent of the votes from South Kalimantan residents. Meanwhile, the Sahbirin-Muhidin duo have a slight lead of 50.31 percent.
This result came after 99.33 percent of the votes came through the Charta Politika version of the quick count. Results were last updated at 20:31 WIB.
Similar results are also seen in the Indonesian Political Indicators quick count survey. The defiant couple, Denny-Difri, could only win 49.77 percent of the vote.
Meanwhile, the incumbent won 50.23 percent and is expected to secure the second term. The results were released after 98.67 percent of the votes were cast at 8:34 p.m. WIB.
Denny-Difri ran with the support of Gerindra, Democrat and PPP. Denny even claimed that he received direct blessing from Prabowo Subianto and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Denny is a very well known attorney. He became one of the lawyers for BPN Prabowo-Sandi in the disputed trial of the 2019 presidential election. Denny also served as Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights in the SBY era.
Meanwhile, Sahbirin-Muhidin advanced with the carriages of nine parties, namely Golkar, PAN, Lucha PDI, PKS, Nasdem, PKB, PKPI, PSI and Perindo.
Sahbirin, or often called Uncle Birin, was the titular governor. Meanwhile, Muhidin is the mayor of Makassar, Banjarmasin, for the period 2010-2015.
The results of this count are not the official results of the Pilkada 2020. The two quick counts are administered by a private survey institution. The results of the Pilkada 2020 are determined by a manual tiered recap conducted by the KPU.
