Police HQ asks staff to increase vigilance after police clashes with FPI Laskar pages all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Headquarters of the National Police ordered its personnel in all regional units to increase surveillance, following clashes between the police and the guard of the leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Rizieq Shihab.

This was relayed by the Head of the Public Information Office of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brigadier General (Pol) Awi Setiyono when contacted Kompas.com, Tuesday (8/12/2020).

“As a form of leadership from the National Police Headquarters to the ranks to increase vigilance and readiness to respond to the latest developments,” Awi said.

Not only that, he said, Brimbob’s anti-anarchy troops were also asked to stand by as they monitor developments in their respective regions.

The shooting between members of the Polda Metro Jaya and the troops guarding Rizieq is known to have taken place on the Jakarta-Cikampek KM 50 toll road on Monday morning (7/12/2020).

As a result, six members of the FPI special laskar were shot dead by members of the Polda Metro Jaya for allegedly attacking the police. Meanwhile, four other people are still being persecuted.

Now, the case has been assumed by the National Police Headquarters.

To uncover the case, the police are collecting CCTV camera footage and examining the car involved in the shooting.

The weapon, believed to belong to a member of Rizieq’s bodyguard, is also being investigated further.

“With regard to the possession of the perpetrator’s firearm, the investigators are gathering evidence that has already led to it. We will tell you later,” said the head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono in his statement, this Tuesday.

In addition to the disclosure of cases, the Professional Division of Police and Security (Propam) is also tracking the implementation of procedures by members at the time of the incident.

The Head of the Propam Polri Division, Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, has formed a team to investigate whether the actions of the police members in the incident were in accordance with the rules or not.

It is known that the confrontation occurred when members of the Polda Metro Jaya carried out an investigation into the information in the application of short messages about the mass mobilization to guard the Rizieq exam.

Rizieq was originally summoned by Polda Metro Jaya for the second time on Monday (7/12/2020), to be examined as a witness regarding the alleged violation of health protocols at his daughter’s marriage in Petamburan, Central Jakarta, the November 14, 2020.

In conducting the investigation, members of the police followed the vehicle that was transporting Rizieq supporters. According to the police, the cars of the Polda Metro Jaya members were stopped by the vehicle that was transporting the FPI special army.

After that, a shooting ensued. According to the police statement, members of the FPI special laskar opened fire on the police for the first time.

On the other hand, the FPI has denied that Rizieq Shihab’s army guards attacked the police first. The FPI also emphasized that members of its military have never owned firearms.
