Polda Metro Jaya responded to claims by the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) that it denied that its troops had firearms when they clashed with police on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road. The police confirmed that they have strong evidence regarding the possession of firearms by the FPI member.

The head of Public Relations of Polda Metro, Jaya Kombes, Yusri Yunus, also recalled that any information that does not correspond to the facts and is disseminated about the incident can be accused of criminal threats.

“If there is a statement like that (the FPI special laskar does not have any enlistment) do not spread false news. That can be criminalized,” Yusri said at the Jakarta Police Headquarters, Jakarta, on Tuesday (8/12/2020) .

According to Yusri, his party has obtained several pieces of evidence regarding the possession of firearms from members of the FPI. For that he asked the public to refrain from spreading the unclear news about the incident.

Yusri said one of the pieces of evidence that the police had kept in their pockets was the identification of the bullets used by the perpetrators. He said that Habib Rizieq Shihab’s Laskar Special Guards used 9mm caliber bullets when they attacked the officer’s car.

He added that his party would now conduct ballistic tests to strengthen these findings.

“(Bullets) 9mm. It is still a ballistic test, so we are still studying each piece of evidence. Later we will do pre-reconstruction and reconstruction. Over time we will transmit it,” Yusri said.
