Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Central leaders (PP) Muhammadiyah asked Polda Metro Jaya to be open about the types of operations carried out by the police that resulted in Shooting against six members of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) laskar on Monday (12/7) morning.

The reason is that this will determine the accuracy of the use of firearms in the incident.

“Different types of investigative activities and intelligence activities are important to assess the appropriateness of the use of firearms in a case, as well as to measure the clarity of the results of intelligence observations obtained by the police,” said Trisno. Raharjo, chairman of the PP Muhammadiyah Human Rights and Law Council, at an online press conference on Tuesday. (8/12).

His party also asked the police to submit standard procedure documents (SOPs) to Komnas HAM or an Independent Team formed by the government.

“It would be better if the presentation of all these documents to Komnas HAM or to the Independent Team in order to consider whether the implementation of the investigation by the Polda Metro Jaya team is correct, accurate and measurable according to the SOPs willing to assume such an assignment, “he said.

Earlier, the police shot dead 6 supporters of the leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road on Monday morning (7/12).

Polda Metro Jaya said the shooting took place as police were investigating efforts to mobilize the masses during the interrogation process of the leader of the FPI, Rizieq Shihab.

At that time, police said, there was an attempt to crash the officer’s vehicle and shoot him with a firearm from the other party.

At the time, Rizieq was scheduled to undergo a vetting process on the case of the crowd at his daughter’s wedding in October.

The Kapolri regulation itself requires that a shot be fired after the officer clearly reveals his identity as a law enforcement officer.

Also, the Institute for the Reform of Criminal Justice (ICJR) said that the shooting outside the judicial decision eliminated the right of citizens to have a fair process.

“Persons suspected of being involved in crimes have the right to be brought to trial and receive a fair trial to prove whether the allegations made by the state are true,” said ICJR Executive Director Erasmus Napitupulu in a written statement on Tuesday (8/12).

“Clearly, these rights will not be fulfilled if the suspects are ‘deprived of their life’ before the judicial process can begin,” he continued.

He said that shooting should be the last resort of the police apparatus for good reason. Otherwise, it could be considered a serious violation of the law.

“Action extrajudicial homicide or extrajudicial executions committed by police officers against persons suspected of being involved in crimes constitutes a serious violation of the criminal procedure law, ”said Erasmus.

“The use of firearms should be the last resort and its nature is disabling, not lethal,” he added.

His party also encourages serious, transparent and responsible investigations into the case.

“The ICJR encourages the National Police Headquarters, Kompolnas, Komnas HAM and the Indonesian Ombudsman to seriously investigate the shooting action of the police in the incident,” Erasmus said.
