Forensic team Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta, is still coordinating with the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) regarding the handling of the six bodies. lSoldiers of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) who was shot and killed by the police.
As of 15.09 WIB, the six bodies of the FPI troops were still in the hospital despite the fact that the FPI and the families of the victims asked the police to immediately hand over their bodies.
“We are still coordinating intensively with Bareskrim. If it is related to developments, please confirm there,” Chief of Forensic Medicine at Police Hospital Arif Wahyono in Jakarta said Tuesday.
However, Arif has not provided information on where the bodies are currently located and the extent of forensic handling of all bodies.
Meanwhile, the head of the Public Information Office of the National Police (Karopenmas), Brigadier General Awi Setiyono, said that the police continued to carry out autopsies on the six bodies of the FPI soldiers.
“We are still in the process of identifying six bodies and an autopsy is being carried out,” Awi told reporters at the National Police headquarters, Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/12).
He also denied that his party made it difficult to access the body of the victim’s family. Awi explained that the police have not been able to deliver the body because forensic medical processes are still being carried out.
According to him, police doctors are already professionals in their work, so there is no need to question the identification processes required by the police at this time.
“We just wait, there are 6 bodies, there are still processes that we are waiting for,” Awi said.
The general leader of the FPI, Ahmad Shabri Lubis, demanded that the relevant parties hand over the bodies of 6 members of the FPI troops.
“We also demand that the body be released to the family immediately through the designated family legal authority,” Shabri said in her official statement.
