As is known, the head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, explained that the police group followed the group of followers of the leader of the FPI Muhammad Rizieq Shihab on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road on Monday 7 early December 2020.

Argo said police were investigating reports that Rizieq supporters were planning to stage a rally during Rizieq’s examination, which was scheduled by police regarding the alleged violation of the COVID-19 health protocol.

Argo said that around 12:30 a.m., two cars from the group suddenly crushed the car used by the police and forced them to stop. Rizieq supporters in the car were charged with pointing firearms and stab weapons at the officers.

The officers then opened fire, which killed at least six Rizieq supporters.

FPI has also issued a statement regarding the incident. The FPI claimed that Rizieq’s convoy was detained by a group of “unknown thugs” who then shot Rizieq’s bodyguard.
In a press conference broadcast via YouTube, the FPI confirmed that six of its members were killed by police shooting and corrected its earlier statement that a car carrying six of Rizieq’s bodyguards was missing.
