Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) urged the government to form an independent investigation team to uncover the cases that occurred in Shooting six supporters of the FPI leaders Rizieq Shihab on Monday (7/12).

The incident took place around the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road in the early hours of the morning. Six FPI supporters were shot dead by police for allegedly attacking the stalking officers.

“Police Watch (IPW) urges the formation of an independent investigation team to reveal what really happened. Because the police version and the FPI version have very different explanations,” said the president of the IPW Presidium, Neta S Pane, through from an official statement, on Monday (12/7).

In this case, according to Polda Metro Jaya’s version, the police were attacked by Rizieq sympathizers while stalking the entourage in the investigation into the mass mobilization to guard Rizieq’s interrogation today.

Meanwhile, FPI claimed that they were attacked by an unknown person (OTK) while monitoring Rizieq’s activities.

In addition, Neta said, there was a series of negligence on the part of the National Police when carrying out the early detection of the incident.

“First, if it is true that the FPI has a special armed force, why does Baintelkam not know and do not perform early detection and anticipation and do not perform persuasive operations to incapacitate it,” Neta said.

He then further questioned whether the interception of the FPI group in the toll road area had followed procedure. Because, he said, the police needed to make it clear to the public that it was true that they were shot first so that they would take firm and measured action.

Furthermore, toll roads are obstacle-free zones so that the police cannot intercept their users if they do not break the law.

“Unless the driver has committed a crime,” he said.

Police and a group of people suspected of supporting Rizieq Shihab were reportedly involved in a clash on the Jakarta-Cikampek turnpike on Monday (7/12) morning. At least six FPI supporters died after being shot for allegedly attacking the security forces.

The incident occurred when officers were investigating information about the mass mobilization to protect Rizieq Shihab’s summons at Polda Metro, on Monday (12/7).

The police who carried out the surveillance were said to have been attacked and immobilized by FPI sympathizers. They were then taken firmly by the authorities because they were deemed to endanger the safety of their lives.
