KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. Indonesia is preparing to welcome the arrival of the corona virus (Covid-19) vaccine on Sunday (12/6). According to the official YouTube account of the Presidential Secretariat, the vaccine will arrive at Soekarno Hatta International Airport. Indonesia is awaiting the presence of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Previously, President Joko Widodo revealed that the Covid-19 vaccine would be arriving soon. At the time, Jokowi predicted their arrival in late November or early December.
Still, the vaccine cannot be used immediately for the vaccination program. Several steps are required to obtain approval from the Food and Drug Supervision Agency (BPOM).

“If it is not by the end of 2020 or January 2021, we can do the vaccination,” Jokowi said during the presentation of the Budget Implementation List (DIPA) at the State Palace, on Wednesday (11/25).
It is not yet known which type of vaccine Indonesia first imported. Indonesia has also previously determined 6 types of Covid-19 vaccines to be used.
This determination is included in the Decree of the Minister of Health number HK.01.07 / MENKES / 9860/2020. The types of vaccines specified are those produced by PT Bio Farma (Persero), AstraZeneca, China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation (Sinopharm), Moderna, Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech, and Sinovac Biotech Ltd.
Use of the vaccine is allowed after obtaining approval from BPOM. The Minister of Health is procuring vaccines for vaccination programs that are paid for by the government, while the purchase of vaccines for self-vaccination is in charge of the Minister of BUMN.
