Merdeka.com – West Sumatra’s main regional election for Pilkada 2020, Mulyadi was named a suspect in an electoral crime ahead of the 4-day Pilkada implementation on December 9. The violation was related to campaigns outside the predetermined hours.
The chairman of the West Sumatra Democratic DPD was the first figure to declare himself the West Sumatra 2020 cagub around November last year. He also partnered with a cadre of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Ali Mukhni as a cawagub.
Thousands of West Sumatran (West Sumatra) millennials who are members of Dunsanak Mulyadi-Ali Mukhni have also declared their support for both. This support proves that the youth of Minang want change for West Sumatra.
Both have simultaneously registered their participation in the Pilkada 2020. Although they only have the support of the Democratic Party and the PAN, they are optimistic about the possibility of winning the regional elections that will be held on December 9, 2020.
“Total Democrats and the PAN have 20 seats in the West Sumatra DPRD and that has exceeded the minimum requirements,” Mulyadi said upon registering with the West Sumatra KPU in Padang on Monday (7/9).
Support for political parties
Democrat Ketum Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) called on all Democratic cadres to win the Mulyadi-Ali Mukhni couple. He said victory in West Sumatra would increase the electoral value of the Democratic Party at the national level.
According to him, West Sumatra is the epicenter of national politics and has its own allure for national party administrators to win over their candidates in West Sumatra Pilkada.
“I call on all party cadres in West Sumatra to move to win Mulyadi-Ali Mukhni in the West Sumatra Pilkada,” AHY said.
According to AHY, PAN Ketum, Zulkifli Hasan called on all PAN cadres and machines in West Sumatra to take the conquest of Mulyadi-Ali Mukhni seriously.
Zulhas said that the PAN, which joined the Democrats in the December 9 political battle for Pilkada simultaneously, had to be strong. He wants the PAN-Democrat duo to have a chance to lead West Sumatra in the next five years.
Clash with PDIP
Apart from the Democrats and the PAN, initially Mulyadi-Ali Mukhni was also supported by PDIP. However, this support was returned due to the statement made by PDIP politician Puan Maharani, who was deemed to have provoked a negative reaction from the West Sumatra community.
“Recommendations are given to Mulyadi and Ali Mukni. Hopefully West Sumatra will become a province that supports the state of Pancasila,” Puan said during the announcement of the head of the PDIP wave V region.
This statement became a controversy, especially among the people of West Sumatra. As a result, the Mulyadi-Ali Mukhni couple returned the recommendation.
“Many Minangkabau community leaders contacted us regarding this statement expressing their disappointment, we are also disappointed,” Ali Mukhni said.
Therefore, they agreed to return the recommendation of the PDIP. So this couple ended up being promoted only by the Democratic Party and the PAN.
With the return of the PDIP supporting decree, the Mulyadi-Ali Mukhni couple now only support two political parties, namely the Democrats and the PAN, which have 10 seats in the West Sumatra DPRD.
Excel in polls
The results of the Indonesian Poltracking Survey from October 19 to 23, 2020, placed Mulyadi-Ali’s candidate with the highest eligibility, that is, 49.5% far behind other partners. They are superior to other couples who participated in this year’s West Sumatra Pilgub.
Other couples were Nasrul Abit-Indra Catri with 21.3 percent, Mahyeldi Ansharulah-Audy Joinaldy with 17.1 percent, and Fakhrizal-Genius Umar with 6.2 percent. Voters who still kept their responses secret were 2.2 percent and undecided 3.7 percent.
Poltracking Indonesia research director Masduri said West Sumatrans chose to look more at the candidate numbers. And it is much higher than the political party factor.
“When it comes to voter preferences, the majority of voters in West Sumatra choose candidates for governor and lieutenant governor based on considerations because the figure for the candidate for governor / lieutenant governor is personally 64.7%, then because the political party supports it 13.1% and because the figure of the party / party leader. 11.3% “, he explained.
The number of samples in this survey was 1,200 respondents with a 2.8 percent margin of error with a 95 percent confidence level. This group of polls covers 19 districts and cities in the West Sumatra province proportionally based on the latest voter population data.
Then a suspect
Now, in the last minute of the Pilkada implementation, Mulyadi was named a suspect in an electoral crime. The Mulyadi-Mukhin case is suspected of committing an electoral crime as a result of a campaign outside the predetermined calendar. The campaign in question is carried out through a national television program on November 12, 2020.
In fact, based on the Regulation of the General Election Commission (PKPU) Number 5 of 2020 in conjunction with Decree Number 31 of 2020 of the West Sumatra KPU, the campaign through the print and electronic media has just started. to be implemented from November 22 to December 5, 2020.
As a result of these actions, the Mulyadi – Ali Mukhin couple was reported by Yogi Ramon Setiawan to Bawaslu RI on November 17. Subsequently, the person in question returned to submit a report to Bareskrim Polri on November 22.
Dirtipidum Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Andi Rian Jayadi said his party had appointed a candidate for governor of West Sumatra (West Sumatra) H. Mulyado on suspicion of election crimes related to off-hours campaign violations.
He said that the decision to investigate the West Sumatra Cagub Mulyadi case was made on the basis of a report from the Gakkumdu Center which had agreed with the Police Criminal Investigation Unit to conduct an investigation into the electoral criminal case.
“Yes, he’s already a suspect,” Andi said when it was confirmed on Saturday (12/5).
After being named a suspect, Andi continued, Pinyidik had made a schedule. Mulyadi will be examined as a suspect on Monday, December 7, 2020.
“If you don’t show up on Monday, they will call you on Thursday (December 10, 2020),” he said.
Earlier, Karo Penmas, Public Relations Division of the National Police Headquarters, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono, said that his party was investigating the alleged electoral crime of the West Sumatra governor and deputy governor candidate couple Mulyadi – Ali Mukhin . Having previously been investigated by the Indonesian Election Supervision Agency (Bawaslu).
“After conducting a study by Bawaslu and investigating by the Police and the assistance of the Prosecutor, the Gakkumdu Center agreed that the case was an electoral crime and recommended that the investigators be referred,” Awi said at the Police Headquarters, Kebayoran Baru. Jakarta South, Tuesday (11/24).
Angry Democrats
Meanwhile, the head of the Bappilu Democratic DPP, Andi Arief, spoke about Mulyadi’s determination as a suspect before Pilkada. He questioned the task of the apparatus, which was like interfering in a competition.
“Determining suspects for electoral violations entering this calm week is not only strange, but it can make the public question. In reality, the task of the apparatus is to protect or compete,” he said via message to merdeka.com, on Saturday (12/5).
Andi said this was the second time the pair of Democratic Party candidates had been treated like this. The first incident occurred in Boven Digoel, Papua, ten days before the elections, when the Pilkada schedule had not been changed to December 9.
“KPU disqualifies the nomination by disqualifying the nomination, although in the end the Pilkada is postponed,” he said.
Andi added that while the Democratic Party felt aggrieved in the West Sumatra Pilgub, it would still confront it. Nor does it cancel the candidacy.
“That case, Pak Mulyadi, was interviewed on television, not by a campaign. Although the focus of Mulyadi’s victory is being disturbed, we still believe that Mulyadi will become governor of West Sumatra,” he concluded.
Notably, the Mulyadi-Ali Mukhni pair from the Democratic coalition and the PAN will fight against three other pairs of candidates in the 2020 West Sumatra Pilkada. Namely, from the coalition MCC-PPP Mahyeldi-Audy Joinaldi, a coalition of Golkar, Nasdem and PKB Fakhrizal-Genius Umar and a Party partner Gerindra Nasrul Abit-Indra Catri.
